Dhuha had sought refuge with her family in a home they believed would be safer from the horrors of war. However, the house was directly targeted, killing all members of her family.

Dhuha remained alone beneath the rubble for many long days, calling out and waiting in the hope that one of her family members might still be alive and come to rescue or reassure her, but in vain. Civil Defense teams were unable to reach her until days of suffering and siege had passed. She was eventually rescued as the sole survivor of her family.

Today, Dhuha suffers from an injury to her left foot and urgently needs surgery and ongoing medical treatment. She has lost her family, provider, and support system, and now needs someone to stand by her during this difficult ordeal.
